What are the advantages of using each site?

Choosing the Right Channel

Suppose you have a friend that either owns or works for a small business. They really don’t want to spend the time or money designing and building their own website. He or she has narrowed the selection down to four of the following websites and wants your opinion on which to go with:

  • eBay
  • Amazon
  • Etsy
  • Facebook

Create an 8- to 10-slide presentation including Introduction, Conclusion, and Reference slides.

Include speaker notes with each slide.

Describe the company and the product or service your friend’s company provides.

Eliminate one of the websites that does not fit, and state why you don’t think it fits.

Include the following information:

  • What are the advantages of using each site?
  • What are the risks of using each site?
  • How will you be able to drive customers to the site?
  • Would you change your strategy if your friend was selling products to a business (B2B)?

Identify one decision that would be appropriate for automated decision making and one decision that would be inappropriate for automated decision making;

Discussion 1: Automated Decision Making

In the 1980s and later, the field of artificial intelligence created computer programs called expert systems and knowledge-based systems that captured the decision-making processes of experts in a wide variety of fields. Using computers to enter, process, and store information about business processes has made it possible to analyze the inputs and outputs of workers and managers. It has also offered the ability to determine how to automate specific business processes.

Many decisions that used to be made by people are now made by computers. Many of the structured decisions we make in business use automated tools, such as decision support systems, management information systems, and executive information systems.

For this Discussion, consider your thoughts regarding automated decision making. What might be the impact of automatic decision making on leaders in the field of management? Do the benefits of automation and possible advantages outweigh the possible disadvantages?

Post by Day 3:

Explain your perspective on how far society should be going in the direction of automated decision making. Analyze the impact that increased automatic decision making might have on the role of a leader in the field of management. Also explain the cost and benefit of automated decision making. Identify one decision that would be appropriate for automated decision making and one decision that would be inappropriate for automated decision making; explain why.

Explain your perspective on the future of decision making in the field of management.

Discussion 2: The Future of Decision Making

For this last Discussion of the course, consider the future of decision making in the field of management. What trends do you see or can you possibly imagine in the future? Brainstorm your ideas about the future. Do not restrict yourself by current limitations of computers or lack of knowledge of how to make the various possibilities happen.

Post by Day 4:

Explain your perspective on the future of decision making in the field of management. Justify your perspective by supporting it with citations from the resources. Share any concerns you have related to decision making. Finally, as you reflect on the content and your experiences throughout this course, explain what resonates with you most as a future leader in management, and how you will you continue to strive to make a difference and promote social change in your field.

How Double Indemnity exemplify Paramount’s style?

American Cinema: Discussion Forum

The textbook points out that each studio had its own particular style. Many of Paramount’s most popular and well-received comedies and dramas were sophisticated, witty and irony-laden (and not considered suitable for children). Paramount’s films were often risqué. How Double Indemnity exemplify Paramount’s style? Give one specific example from the film.  I will discuss Double Indemnity in full this weekend.

What are some implications of security breaches of its health care data?

This assignment should be 2-3 pages, double-spaced with more than one reference cited correctly in APA format. Also, be sure to have turnitin to check for plagiarism. Turnitin score should be 8% or less. Due date: February 14, 2016 before midnight.

Application: System Security and Ease of Use

For ethical, legal, and business reasons, the security of health care data must be a top priority in health care organizations. HIPAA, for example, requires that health care organizations safeguard patient data, and there are serious consequences for breaches of privacy. Yet organizations have many types of sensitive clinical or administrative information they need to protect. To make their systems secure, health care organizations put in place policies as well as technical safeguards such as encryption and passwords. There can be a tradeoff, however, between system security and ease of use by health care providers.

Prepare for this Application Assignment as follows:

  • Select a type of health care organization, such as an outpatient clinic, nursing home, or hospital, and a specific department or function in this setting, such as a nursing unit, radiology department, or admissions, that would make use of sensitive health data. Bring to mind specific ways in which these data might be improperly accessed, lost, stolen, and so on.
  • Review this week’s Learning Resources, and conduct online research, as needed, to clarify for yourself the ramifications for individuals and organizations of security breaches in this department, and the solutions that have been devised to protect these data. In what ways might these security measures interfere with the staff’s ease of use of the system? Consider how best to balance these competing interests of data security and convenience for staff.

Then write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

  • Describe key challenges for your selected health care department in ensuring that its sensitive data are secure. Illustrate with specific examples, and address not only technological issues but also human factors involved in ensuring its system security.
  • What are some implications of security breaches of its health care data? Who might be impacted and how?
  • Summarize security measures that might be taken as well as their potential impact on the staff’s ease of use of the information system.
  • Explain what you believe is the appropriate balance between data security and ease of use.
