Identify the person you are going to interview by title and provide a brief description of this person’s duties and/or role in the agency or organization.

Assignment 2: Creating Interview Questions

Human service providers must develop networking skills so that they can effectively select and access additional, specialized services for their clients. Networking involves researching services and providers in the area and developing an understanding of the kind of assistance offered by them. This assignment is designed to give you the ability to gather information in a systematic manner, particularly for those agencies of the most interest to you.

In M1: Assignment 3, you created an information bank of community resources for at-risk populations. Now, you will select one of the agencies or organizations from this list to use for your course project which you will submit in Module 5.

Choose an agency or organization from your information bank of community resources that interests you and provides the best chance of completing your course project. Before making a final decision, telephone the agency to confirm that they are agreeable to you using them for your course project.

Make a telephone or in-person appointment with an individual in the agency to learn more about the agency services, staff, and population it servers. Try to make this appointment before the end of Module 3 so that you have enough time to complete this project.

Based on your research, do the following:

  • Prepare a description of the agency, the population it serves, and the services it provides.
  • Identify the person you are going to interview by title and provide a brief description of this person’s duties and/or role in the agency or organization.
  • Create a list of at least ten interview questions to use when interviewing this person for your course project. Include questions to solicit information about the agency, staff, services, and population served. Here are some pointers to keep in mind:
    • Use complete sentences and work to make most of your questions open-ended (rather than yes/no questions) so that you are able to solicit sufficient information to understand the agency and the population it serves.
    • Do not use these questions to solicit information (for example, the location of the agency) that you can find elsewhere, for example on their Web site. Rather, design questions to help you gain an “insider” or expert view of the agency and the population(s) it serves.
    • Remember to include some interview “opener” questions or statements to help establish rapport.

Write a 2–3-page paper in Word format. All interview questions should be written in your own words, with credit given to any sources. All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc.

By Wednesday, January 20, 2016, deliver your assignment to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox.

Note:

Remember to make your interview appointment with a resource working at your chosen agency before the end of Module 3 so that you have enough time to compile information for your course project due in Module 5.

Answer

Explanation how you might implement the public health program in the scenario in a school setting.

Program Implementation in School and Workplace Settings

Some health educators have observed that, for adults, the workplace provides a setting very similar to school for children: a place in which individuals spend a major part of their days and where they are often receptive to information. Unlike health care and community settings, school and workplace settings are generally based on specific grade levels, such as kindergarteners, or populations sharing a common purpose, such as factory workers. However, you can be creative and find applications for almost any program in almost any setting. For example, a program about safety seats for infants could be taken to employee groups to target working adults who may be new parents. An adult fitness program could be provided in an elementary school for the faculty, who may in turn model fitness principles for their students.

As you explore the possible outcomes in the two settings, it will become more obvious which of the settings will provide better results. Continuing with the same project you discussed in Week 7, you will explore what aspects would be appropriate in a school setting and in a workplace setting.

For this week’s Discussion, review the media from Week 7 titled Healthcare in Rural Communities. Consider how programs such as the sexually transmitted disease program described by Fanny Martinez might be different if implemented in a school or workplace setting. Then, using the same scenario you selected in Week 7 (repeated below), consider the intended outcomes for a school and workplace setting and how each setting would affect program implementation to ensure intended outcomes.

Pick 1 scenario

Scenario 1:

In Namibia, a country in South Africa, health care is provided through the government, mission facilities, and private agencies. The country is sparsely populated, and many people in rural communities have no transportation; as such, they walk to health care facilities. Imagine that you are a health educator who has been asked to address the high incidence of children contracting malaria and other illnesses. You want to educate parents about what symptoms necessitate bringing a child in for care, and what to do in case they cannot bring the child in due to transportation or other issues.

Scenario 2:

Imagine that you are a family health advocate who wants to create a smoking prevention program to decrease the number of smokers in a community. You are asked to target your program primarily to teenagers in order to prevent young people from starting down the path to becoming smokers. Many individuals in the community are employed in tobacco farming and production. The economic reliance on tobacco has made many individuals in the community resistant to messages of abstinence from smoking, although a new study has shown an alarming increase in cancer rates of all types in the community.

Assignment:

Include the number of your chosen scenario in the subject line

Post:

Word limit 350 -500 words – you must stay within the word limit –  The headings and the main text are included in the word limit. The references are not included in the word limit.

References – 2 and more

Divide your posting into 5 headings (you must use these headings, including numbers)

1. Explanation how you might implement the public health program in the scenario in a school setting

2. Explanation how you might implement the same program in a workplace setting

3. Explanation how the implementation would differ based on each setting (a school setting versus a workplace setting)

4. Explanation of one potential strategy you would use in a school setting to ensure that the public health program achieves the intended outcomes

5. Explain one potential strategy you would use in a workplace setting to ensure that the public health program achieve

Discussion, you apply the concepts of SCT to an environmental health behavior.

Applying Social Cognitive Theory to Environmental Health

Consider the following scenario: A mother is pressured by her children to start exercising every day because they had learned about the need for it in school. The mother usually tries to set an example for her children, but in this case her children are setting the example for her. This is an illustration of observational learning, where behaviors are acquired by seeing them in another person. Observational learning is one of the many useful concepts in the Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) that apply directly to health behaviors.

For this Discussion, you apply the concepts of SCT to an environmental health behavior. You may choose one of these examples or your own topic: recycling; responsible energy use (e.g., compact fluorescent [CFL]/light-emitting diode [LED] lightbulbs, phantom loads); use of bottled water; use of alternative energy sources (e.g., wind, solar); consumption of locally grown food; reducing use of personal vehicles. Note also Table 5 in Theory at a Glance (NCI, 2005), which has some good examples of potential change strategies that could be applied to your topic.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post 4-5 pages of a description of a possible intervention to change an environment-related health behavior. Then, explain how you might apply SCT in the environmental health topic you selected. Finally, describe at least two intended results/outcomes of your intervention

Answer

Compare and contrast each article to the information discussed in the course textbook.

Current Trends and Issues in Managed Care

Compensation and reimbursement models are another method of controlling access, cost, and quality in a managed care environment. An MCO doesn’t have direct control over physicians or hospitals but through contractual agreements that set incentives for meeting agreed-upon standards, it can exert influence.

This week, you are required to write an essay on the following topics:

  • Managed care hospital reimbursement
  • Managed care provider reimbursement

Using South University Online library (e.g. CINAHL) or the Internet, review at least two articles for each topic and write a review for each source of information. Use the following guidelines for developing your essay:

  • Write a summary for each topic tying together the information learned about that topic.
  • Analyze the market forces that would favor using one reimbursement method over another.
  • Evaluate the key differences between different types of payment methodologies from the provider and hospital point of view.
  • Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the payment methodologies reviewed from the provider and hospital point of view.
  • Evaluate new payment methodologies resulting from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and discuss future changes in reimbursement methodologies.
  • Compare and contrast each article to the information discussed in the course textbook.

Based on your understanding, create a 3 page essay

Principles of Total Quality 6303 1-3

There are three principles of total quality: customer focus, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Find three articles that describe current practices in healthcare organizations. Each article should illustrate one principle of total quality. Refer to professional journals such as Modern Healthcare, Provider Magazine, and Nursing Homes. Write a paper based on your review of the articles. Include the following in the paper:

  • Describe each quality principle and show how it is illustrated in the article.
  • Analyze the relationships among the three quality principles.
  • Examine whether the principle in one example might apply to other examples.

Submission Details:

  • Present your analysis as a 5-page report in a Microsoft Word document formatted in APA style.
  • On a separate page, cite all sources using APA format.

Explain the importance of situating a society’s cultural and artistic expressions within a historical context.

pick a topic from below and paper needs to be done

Assignment 1: Essay – Exploring Ancient Mysteries

Due Week 4 and worth 100 points

Choose one (1) of the topics below and develop a three to four (3-4) paragraph essay (of at least 250-500 words) which adequately address the topic you have chosen.

Topic Choices

  • There have been many theories regarding how the pyramids at Giza were constructed. Most experts agree that they were constructed as burial monuments for pharaohs, but “how” these ancient people constructed monuments of such great size without modern machinery is a mystery which is still being debated.
  • No one can say for certain what happened to the great urban Mayan civilization, but theories abound and include varied possible alternatives to explain the relatively abrupt and mysterious disappearance of the Mayan civilization.
  • Tutankhamen died young, at approximately eighteen (18) years of age. However, his cause of death has been the subject of quite varied scholarly theories and conclusions. Did he die of an injury, of illness, of murder, or something else?.
  • Minoan Crete was a major civilization in its time, but several theories have been advanced to explain its demise, including speculations associating it with mythical Atlantis. What were the causes of Minoan Civilization’s decline?
  • Great Zimbabwe is an enormous complex of structures in East Africa. Since the builders and occupants left no written records, several theories have developed as to the identity of its builders and the functions of the structures. Which theory makes the most sense?
  • The monumental size and complexity of the Tomb of Shihuangdi is astounding, yet its location and construction details were to be kept secret. What was the emperor’s purpose for such an elaborate, secret burial place?
  • Other topic choice recommended and approved by the professor and supported by the grading rubric.

Write a three to four (3-4) paragraph paper in which you:

  1. Clearly state the “mystery” and provide a brief summary of at least two (2) reasonable and scholarly theories which could explain the mystery. Because some theories may sound far-fetched, include the source or promoter of each theory – such as a scientist, a historian, a theologian, etc.
  2. After summarizing at least two (2) scholarly theories, identify one (1) of the theories as the most plausible and provide at least two (2) convincing reasons why the theory you have chosen is the best one to explain the mystery. This will involve some critical reasoning skills on your part.
  3. Use at least two (2) sources plus the class textbook. (Three [3] sources total as the minimum) Note: Wikipedia and other similar Websites do not qualify as academic resources. You are highly encouraged to use the Resource Center tab at the top of your Blackboard page.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA style format. Both in-text citations and a References list are required. Citations and references must follow APA style format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. (Note: Students can find APA style materials located in the course shell for guidance).
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length. For our purposes, you may omit any abstract page.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Explain how key social, cultural, and artistic contributions contribute to historical changes.
  • Explain the importance of situating a society’s cultural and artistic expressions within a historical context.
  • Examine the influences of intellectual, religious, political, and socio-economic forces on social, cultural, and artistic expressions.
  • Identify major historical developments in world cultures during the eras of antiquity to the Renaissance
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in the study of world cultures.
  • Write clearly and concisely about world cultures using proper writing mechanics.
