Craft a research question on the topic you selected in your first discussion question post. Then locate at least five articles from peer-reviewed journals that pertain to your question that will be used to write the introduction section of your research proposal.

Submit these five citations in the form of an APA-style reference page. Under each citation, write one paragraph summarizing the main points of the article. As you read your articles, keep the following questions at hand; these will help you generate the information about each article.

Since the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001, there has been a real push in local law enforcement agencies—especially large ones—to incorporate intelligence-led policing techniques.

A part of that strategy has been the creation of fusion centers in all fifty states intended to facilitate the sharing of police intelligence information between federal, state, and local agencies. Consider the Lambert (2010) article, “Intelligence-Led Policing in a Fusion Center” and the “US Government Accountability Office (GAO) Report on Fusion Centers” in the Webliography.

The creation of fusion centers and their operations have not been without controversy. Many civil libertarians have expressed concern that instead of focusing only on real threats, fusion centers encourage the government’s suspicion toward law-abiding citizens and groups that are suspected of potential hostility toward government.

Tasks:

Review the excerpt of the California Court of Appeals case Bezirdjian v. O’Reilly, reproduced as Extended Case 40.2 in Chapter 40 of the Business Law textbook and answer these questions:

1.  What type of action did Bezirdjian bring and what steps was Bezirdjian required to take with Chevron before filing this action?

2.  What is the Business Judgment Rule and how did the Court apply that rule in the Bezirdjian case?

3.  Although this case involved Delaware law, if California Corporations Code § 309 had applied to this case, would the outcome of the case have been the same?  Why or why not?

Growing up and in college, Jonathan was not exposed to Hispanic, Chicano, or Latino people. In fact, he had no ideas what these terms meant. He had always been comfortable using the term Mexican with his Caucasian friends and family in West Virginia. There was no negative intention in their use of the term, and Jonathan never dreamed that another person would be offended by the word. During one of his first days son the job, Jonathan spent several hours with a trainer named Rosa from the Human Resources Department. As Jonathan and Rosa were in conversation, Jonathan said the following: “I’ve noticed that there are lots of Mexicans who work around here.” He continued: “But you don’t really look like a Mexican, Rosa. You have a very fair complexion.” Not surprisingly, Rosa was offended. In response to Jonathan’s comment, Rosa took the time to explain that some people who identify as Hispanic may not be Mexican or of Mexican descent. She went on to explain that in her case, her mother was of Irish descent and her father’s family came from El Salvador, so she was not Mexican. She also added that Hispanics are a diverse group and they do not have one look.

Jasmine is a Chinese teenager who works in a blue jeans factory in urban China and Elicia is a young mother working several jobs in order to make ends meet in rural Washington State.  However neoliberalism has impacted their lives, albeit in different ways. What are the ways in which neoliberalism has impacted Jasmine and Elicia?
