The process of staffing has many phases which are done in order, starting with sourcing applicants. Conduct academic research on the staffing and selection processes.

Select one staffing process to report about in detail for your initial post on the forum. Then, give your opinion on how you might improve how that process is done.

 

ENGLISH COMP

A discourse community is a special group who share subject matter, background, experience, values, and a common language (maybe specialized vocabulary, technical jargon, slang, or mutually agreed upon acronyms). You probably belong to many groups that fit this description and you communicate differently inside each one.

To what specific discourse communities do you belong? How does a discourse community establish common ground for its members? Use specific examples from your own experiences. How do you adapt the way you communicate for the different discourse communities in which you belong? How do you change the way you communicate for the different audiences you encounter outside your discourse communities?

Tips: Respond comprehensively to each question, always supporting your responses with reasons and/or examples to prove your points. Show that you have thoughtfully responded to the question(s) and participate beyond the minimum of three required posts. Demonstrate your understanding of the assigned readings and lecture material by incorporating this knowledge as you respond to the corresponding assignment questions. Get further discussion going by exploring new lines of argument and contribute unique ideas and thoughts.

Define and discuss the importance of the time value of money concepts including compounding (future value), discounting (present value), and annuities. Why do organization leaders need to understand these concepts?

• Examine the different types of applications of the stream cipher and the block cipher. Select the one (1) that you would prefer to use. Justify your response.

PART I: APPLICATION

1.   Describe the difference between a population and a sample.

2.   A New York newspaper reported the average gasoline prices in four metropolitan areas and used a bar chart to illustrate the differences.  What type of statistics was shown?  What activities did the newspaper use to make the report?

3.   Research a management or marketing article/news/publication that writes about a topic founded on the use of statistics.  Evaluate the information according to the following questions and directions.

·       Determine whether the existing information is adequate or additional information is required to support the topic.

·       Is the presentation of statistics misleading in the context of the topic?

·       Was statistics used only as numerical information or the framework for decision-making?

·       Was the information summarized in a useful and informative manner?

·       Analyze and draw your own observations/inferences/conclusions about the information presented based on information you have learned from this module.

PART II: CASE STUDY

Directions: Please conduct the following case study.  You will work on this case study for Modules 1 through 8.

Identify a business topic of interest to you.  It could be an issue with which you are familiar from your workplace or one that you have read about in the media or for another course

Please identify three (3) types of statistics that a business decision maker would find helpful to address this curiosity or solve this business problem.  Please also explain why these statistics would be relevant.

PART III: JOURNAL ACTIVITY

 

 

Please identify one key concept from this module that you find particularly challenging or relevant to your interests.  Write a short paper (2 to 3 pages) explaining it in greater depth.  Remember to cite your sources.  Please visit the Academic Resource Center (ARC) for concise guidelines on APA format.

Case Analysis 1 – Apple Computer: Research how Apple managed to reinvent itself over the years. Answer the following questions:

1. What were some of Apple’s biggest successes and failures? Describe why.
2. How much of Apple’s success can be linked directly back to its culture? Why?
3. How do the actions of Apple apply to the TCOs?

Assignment 2: Formulating a Research Question “How do you measure a potato?” That is the legendary question that Endel Tulving is said to have used to stump his first-year psychology graduate students (Ellsworth & Gonzalez, 2003). The students would come up with a wide variety of creative answers: You can weigh it, compute its volume, measure the water content, describe its chemical properties, and others.
