Why are application of project management principles critical to effective business operations?

Competitive Advantage and Globalization

Competitive advantage implies the creation of a system that has a unique advantage over competitors. With the advent of globalization, the competition has become stronger and can be located anywhere in the world. The idea behind competitive advantage is to create customer value in an efficient and sustainable way. One approach to address this issue would be the use of resource-based theories of competitive advantage.

Resources are not simply raw materials but include all the inputs, such as intellectual capital, necessary to produce a good or service. Consider this as you address globalization strategies for Fortune 500 firms in this assignment. Be mindful of constraints, such as transportation costs and cultural barriers, as you complete this assignment.

Review the article “Resource-Based Theories of Competitive Advantage: A Ten-Year Retrospective on the Resource-Based View” by J. B. Barney from the readings for this module.

Based on your analysis of this article and other readings for this module, respond to the following:

  • Explain how resource-based competitive advantage drives globalization strategies for Fortune 500 firms.
  • Why are application of project management principles critical to effective business operations?

What tools might an organization use to help identify barriers?

Operational Barriers to Success

Delivering on a value proposition demands constant improvement and innovation as competition changes over time along with evolving customers’ needs and wants. How an organization delivers is not only dependent on its ability to serve the market but also on how well it adapts and overcomes the challenges of its own structure, culture, incentives, and design. However, an organization may face many barriers that hinder its ability to overcome these challenges.

Using the module readings, ABC University online library resources, and the Internet, research operational barriers. Based on your research, address the following:

  • What tools might an organization use to help identify barriers?
  • Identify at least three barriers that impede an organization’s ability to adopt innovative practices and processes.
  • Identify at least one organization that faced these barriers, describe the approach used to address these barriers, and explain whether it was successful or unsuccessful.
  • Explain what you would you have done differently to overcome these barriers.

What would be another theory and strategy to avoid stereotyping individuals in the criminal justice system?

Individual Project 1

Library Research Assignment

5-6 PAGE APA STYLE, RUNNING HEAD, NUMBER PAGE, ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, CONCLUSION, REFERENCE. oRINGINALITY VERIFCATION NO MORE THAN 25% PAGES DOES NOT INCLUDE ABTRACT,INTRODUCTION,…

Labeling theorists are adamant about the labels that offenders are given throughout the criminal justice system. Labels, such as ex-felons, are deepening the very behavior that they are meant to halt because of stereotypes that incite an individual trying to recover after a prison term. The labeling theory argues that the criminal justice system is limited in its capacity to restrain unlawful conduct but also is a major factor in anchoring people into criminal careers.

The cultural deviance theory explains the causes of criminal behavior in urban areas are not about the poverty suffered in those areas but the product of a distinct lower-class culture whose focal concern is deviance against the norms of society.

The theory identified 3 influential versions:

  • Lower-class culture as a whole is responsible for generating crime in urban areas.
  • Urban lower-class areas produce subcultures that are responsible for the rise of crime.
  • Subcultures of crimes in urban areas where individuals come together to band in creating crimes for their own personal gain and satisfaction

Write a 5–6 page paper answering the following questions:

  • What would be another theory and strategy to avoid stereotyping individuals in the criminal justice system?
    • Is labeling theory a legitimate crime causation theory? Why?
  • In your opinion, where do gangs fit in the 3 influential versions of cultural deviance theory? Why?
  • Which one of the two theories would you use to explain the following problem:
    • The number of youths joining gangs in the inner city has doubled, while the number of gang leaders serving time in prison and being released after good conduct has increased. The crime rate for gang violence has risen 20% from last year.

Requirements

  • Your opinion statements must be justified by theory or real-life strategies and practices of law enforcement activity.
  • The explanation of cause of criminality in question 3 must use the case provided.
  • You must use the labeling theory or cultural deviance theory in answering questions.

What kind of organizational trends are evident in the Kokubu case when we consider the business environment, management, and technology?

computer information

For part II of the assignment, read the required articles and then write a 3-5 page paper answering the Kokubu case study questions. Be sure your discussion demonstrates that you understand the meanings and differences between data, information, and knowledge. Particular attention must be given to the functions and business link to appreciate how IT supports Kokubu operations and knowledge management activities within the company.

Review the Kokubu website at http://www.kokubu.co.jp/english/business/ and after finding the answers to the Case questions, prepare a summary in 3-5 pages analyzing the following questions.

As a reminder, you must have at least two outside scholarly references when you write cases.

Although the parents are also upset, they are concerned about the challenges this goal may present to their child. The special education teacher has contacted you for suggestions and assistance with the issue.

If you have chosen the field experience option, by this time, you should have obtained the appropriate permissions to visit local schools.

An Observation/Permission Format has been provided for you, if needed, on the Books and Resources page.

Once you have obtained permission to visit schools in your district, contact principals to plan your scheduled visits. Think about how you will document these visits or obtain the needed forms for this purpose. Remember that the interviews may also be conducted via electronic means.

Postsecondary Education Research Center Assignment:

One of the outcomes from passage of the 2008 Higher Education Opportunities Act was to encourage programs in which students with cognitive or developmental disabilities who are between the ages of 18 and 21 may experience their transition years of public school in postsecondary settings. To assess subsequent programming, a Research and Innovation project under the auspices of the Office of Special Education launched the Postsecondary Education Research Center (PERC) project. A 10-section Likert scale assessment instrument was developed as one aspect of the project.

Read the required on-line journal article for this week’s assignment for a description of this project and related on-line links. Access the assessment instrument at the following: PERC Postsecondary Program Evaluation Tool: A Self-Assessment for College and Community-Based Services.

  1. Select a transition program currently used by a district with which you are familiar that includes a post-secondary option.
  2. Analyze the program of your choice, using the PERC program evaluation tool.
  3. Prepare a transition services profile that includes the following:
  • A description of the program being reviewed (use pseudonyms).
  • Likert-scale ranking of the selected program in each of the 10 areas. (You are encouraged to download the actual instrument for this component of the assignment.)
  • A summary of the results pertinent to the program being assessed that includes areas of strength, areas of improvement, and what PERC-based revisions you would recommend, if you were serving as a consultant to the district and had been asked to evaluate the program currently in place.

Be sure to include the following in your transition services exploration:

  • An APA-format cover page.
  • The paper will be 5-7 double-spaced pages in length, using 12-point Times New Roman font. The cover page and reference list are not included in this page count.
  • Address all 3 components.
  • Include a minimum of 5 reference citations (you may use your text).

Your finished program transition services exploration should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your paper should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards
