Discuss how the framework interweaves into your literature review.

Literature

Depending on whether you are seeking a DBA or a PhD, it is of paramount importance that you identify an overall organizing structure in the literature using either a conceptual framework (DBA students) or theoretical framework (PhD students). As previously mentioned, it is important to be able to relate the issues discussed within the review to theory or other frameworks that already exist in the field. This will allow you to show how your study will contribute to practice and/or theory. For this assignment, you will identify how your literature review fits within a conceptual framework(s) or theoretical framework(s) within your specialization.

As you have been collecting and reading your scholarly sources thus far, you should have been noting the conceptual or theoretical frameworks used by the authors. This was part of digesting the information within a scholarly source that you worked on in Weeks 2 and 3. In addition, you have been working to form themes in developing your outline in Week 4 and noting what frameworks were used within each theme/(sub)topic. In Weeks 5 and 6, you summarized, critically analyzed, and synthesized the literature you collected thus far. All the while, you also continued to collect additional scholarly sources, write, receive feedback on your writing, incorporate that feedback, and continue on. In other words, you have been partaking in the iterative process of writing a literature review. This assignment is geared toward further honing your literature review by helping you determine the conceptual or theoretical framework that you will use to couch your paper.

  • Look back at the scholarly resources you have read thus far. Describe the conceptual and/or theoretical frameworks used by the authors.
  • Compare and contrast how your topic relates to each of those frameworks used.
  • Based on your analysis, which framework best applies to your topic? Note that you may find that none of the frameworks seem to really fit your topic. This is a normal part of the writing process. If you find this is the case, please explain how the frameworks in your sources do not fit your topic. This should help illuminate where you should search in the literature to find a framework that applies to your study, which you can then discuss here.
  • Justify why this conceptual/theoretical framework applies to your topic area and literature search. Also ensure your chosen framework reflects your degree type.
  • Discuss how the framework interweaves into your literature review.

Do you have the same sense of your strengths and weaknesses?

writing essay

Way back at the beginning of the semester, I asked you to think about both your experiences writing and yourself as a writer. You considered questions such as whether or not you like writing and what your strengths and weaknesses as a writer are. As we come to the end of the semester, I want you to ithink about how you feel about writing now and how you view yourself as a writer.  Have any of your feelings or perceptions changed? Do you have the same sense of your strengths and weaknesses? Do you feel that you have made any improvements or that you have new strategies for approaching writing assignments?

Please note that, as the first paper was not a fishing expedition for comments about how much you love to write, this exam is not a fishing expedition for testimonials about how much of a difference this class has made for you.  One semester is only a beginning to writing growth, and I’m not looking for you to blow smoke up my skirt, so to speak.

I want you to think about the work you have done this semester.  Look over your drafts with your peers’ comments and with my comments.  Look at the final papers you submitted.  Think about the kind of changes you made.  Write an essay in which you reflect upon your composing process and your development as a writer, thinker, and scholar over the course of the semester.  Just as you have evaluated and critiqued the work of others over the semester, you will now apply those analytical skills to your own writing.

Really reflect on the work you’ve done this semester.  You will apply what you have learned about effective writing and your own writing process to discuss (1) the texts you have composed over the semester (particularly the choices that you made regarding their initial composition and the revisions you made) and (2) your development as a writer (or lack thereof if that was your experience).  As a guideline, consider the following suggestions taken from Portfolio Keeping when writing your introduction:

  • &νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;Talk about specific revisions you’ve made and the improvements and changes that you want readers to notice.
  • &νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;Demonstrate what the work you have done this semester illustrates about you as a writer, student, researcher, or critical thinker.
  • &νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;Acknowledge the readers-respondents who have influenced your portfolio pieces and describe how.
  • &νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;Reflect on what you’ve learned about writing, reading, or other topics of the course.
  • &νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;&νβσπ;Include specific examples or passages from your workshop drafts or final drafts.

The essay should have an introduction that promotes the reader’s interest and gives some idea of the paper’s content.  You must, as always, present a clear thesis.  The thesis for this assignment should convey an evaluation of your work and development, and you must, as always, develop your thesis through logical organization and connect its various subpoints with sufficient transitions.  You must also provide sufficient evidence from a variety of sources (i.e. your drafts, finished essays, peer and instructor comments) to support your claims and appropriately attribute and cite those sources.

Why are we doing this?

In completing the essay assignments this semester, and in interacting with your instructor and your peers throughout the writing process, you should have learned that effective, sustained, formal writing is ordinarily well planned and involves considerable effort. To demonstrate your growth as a writer, your understanding of your composing process, and your appreciation of rhetorical choices (particularly

In your opinion, does the Equal Pay Act go far enough in prohibiting pay discrimination?

BUSINESS LAW

1.  Should card-check procedures be allowed to determine employees’ desire for union representation or only formal representation elections? What result does it favor? What is the main objection to its use? How can that objection be moderated?

2.  In your opinion, does the Equal Pay Act go far enough in prohibiting pay discrimination? Why, or why not? Should the proposed amendments to the EPA found in the Fair Pay Act be enacted? Why, or why not?

3.  Assume an employee was able to make a prima facie case of pay discrimination. The burden has now shifted to the employer to prove that the pay differential was based on one of the legal factors other than sex. The specific fact scenario of the case is up to you; you may use a real life example or a fictional one. Begin your essay with a description of the facts (real or invented), be sure to include how you think she was able to prove the prima facie elements of pay discrimination. For the second part of this essay assume the role of attorney for the defendant/employer and argue that the pay difference was legitimate based on distinctions in one of the four compensable factors (skill, effort, responsibility, or working conditions). Also discuss any facts necessary to prove your case.

4.  A company terminated an employee and sent him notification of his COBRA rights via certified mail with return receipt requested. The former employee was out of the house on two occasions when the postal service attempted to deliver the letter. It left a note that he could pick it up at the post office. However, when he went to the post office, the letter could not be found. The letter was later found and sent back to the employer marked undelivered. The employer made no further attempt to contact the former employee. The employee incurred medical expenses for which he wanted continuation coverage. The employer denied continuation coverage because he did not elect it within the required 60 days. The former employee sued. What is the issue in this case? What should the court decide, and why?

win Behavior: Intervening

DUE WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 16TH, 2015 3:30 PM Assignment 3: Twin Behavior: Intervening • Amee and Aaron are 6-year-old twins of Josh and Lacy. Josh is an alcoholic and unemployed, and Lacy works two jobs to feed the family. When Lacy arrives home late from work, Josh is drunk after spending the day managing the children. Josh picks a fight with Lacy over petty issues and starts hitting her. Amee and Aaron try to protect their mother. As they tug on their father’s leg, he stops hitting Lacy, falls to the floor, and begins to cry. This has been a nightly ritual since Josh lost his job six weeks ago. Before losing his job, Josh used to hit Lacy on a sporadic basis, usually when he had too much to drink. The children have developed a morbid fear of their father, and they are extra careful not to annoy him. At a parent/teacher conference, Lacy is told that her twins’ aggressive behavior on the playground at recess is becoming an issue. Their teacher expresses concern and suggests that Lacy might want to investigate early intervention for her children. Without discussing the violence being experienced in the family, Lacy agrees with the teacher to pursue intervention for the twins’ behavioral issues. • Identify and integrate various psychoeducational or supportive approaches that might be used at the community level, such as at community centers, schools, and social service agencies, to assist children like Amee and Aaron, who are at risk from family violence, to more effectively cope and develop resiliency. • Be sure to address whether there may be differences between the responses seen for Amee and Aaron and provide your reasoning. • Explore issues of gender, diversity, and ethics within the intervention approaches. Your response should be at least 2 pages long, (PLUS) a cover page and reference list. APA FORMAT, CREDIBLE SOURCES
