Volvo

When car buyers visit Volvo showrooms next year, they will be able to put on a Microsoft HoloLens virtual reality kit and experience what the yet-unreleased S90 sedan will look like, inside and out. They’ll be able to spin it around, look at the engine block floating in space in front of them, and see on-road demos of the safety features and more. In subsequent campaigns, Volvo and Microsoft hope to be able to simulate the experience of sitting in the car and using the dashboard controls.

We are concerned about the impact of communication on cultural competence. Pérez and Luquis (2008) indicate each ethnic group has varying patterns of culture and communication patterns (p. 148). All of us develop our cultural beliefs and patterns through individual and group association, which is a process of enculturation. If we consider our values, beliefs, and attitudes and understand ourselves, we improve our cultural competence and intercultural communications.

Communication involves someone speaking (sender), and someone listening (receiver). The receiver may need clarifying feedback in order to interpret the message.
