How are these interchangeability issues best addressed?

FOR PROF XAVIER

System Interchangeability

For health care organizations in this country and around the world, the achievement of system interchangeability is an ever-present aim as health information technology solutions are selected and implemented. Ideally, the technology solution that is selected will work in concert with current and evolving standards and processes. Yet there are a number of factors that can slow or even prevent altogether the achievement of system harmony and integration.

Prepare for this Discussion as follows:

  • Review the main challenges to interchangeability among health care systems, as described in this week’s Learning Resources.
  • Select a clinical or administrative area or function in a health care setting, such as radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, ICU, admissions, or patient billing. Preferably, this will be an area in which you intend to work in the near future. Through online research, find out more about the IT standards that would be most relevant to this department or function. Identify interchangeability issues that commonly arise and solutions that have been found or are being proposed.
  • Consider the ways in which management can help to find solutions to these challenges.

Response to the following:

  • In the first line of your posting, identify the health care area or function you selected.
  • Describe one significant impediment to achieving system interchangeability within and between health care organizations.
  • What is the most relevant standard(s) in your selected clinical or administrative area or function, and what are important interchangeability issues that arise here? Provide a specific example that illustrates this problem in practice.
  • How are these interchangeability issues best addressed? What could you, as a manager in this area, do to assist in resolving the problem?

Did you attend in person or watch it online?

Help with Humanities Culture and Diversity class.

For this paper, you are required to write about two cultural events world wide and relate them to ideas about culture, and the arts in humanities. You are strongly encouraged to attend at least one cultural event in your local area, but it is not required if you are unable to do so. Instead, you may experience a cultural event through available forms of media, such as a learning-based television program or Internet video. (It is important to see and hear the event, so please do not simply read an article about it!)

What is the Definition of a Cultural Event?

For the purposes of this project, a cultural event must provide a higher learning experience about a culture through the lens of humanities. Listed below are examples of cultural events acceptable for this paper.

Cultural events include:

A visit to an art museum (Some museums have virtual tours online, so look for one if you are unable to physically visit an art museum.)

A visit to a history museum that provides information about the history of the local region

A performance of music, dance, or drama that reflects the culture in its performance

A writer’s book-reading session or poetry recitation about their culture or experience as a member of a specific culture

A cultural celebration in its own setting (i.e., Carnival in Rio de Janiero or The Hogbetsotso Festival in Ghana)

For each of your chosen cultural events, please consider the following as you write your paper:

Identify the cultural event. What is it? How did you “experience” it? Did you attend in person or watch it online?

Describe the cultural event as it reflects the culture of origin. Consider the ideas, beliefs, and practices of the people.

What is the history of the cultural event? Consider the historical context, the events or opinions that surrounded the

origination of the event and the era in which it began.

Has the cultural event changed since it began?

What similarities does this event have to at least one other cultural event in another part of the world? Provide an example and explain how they are similar and how they differ.

Has this cultural event been influenced by other cultures? If so, explain.

Has this cultural event influenced other cultures? If so, explain.

This has to be a minimum of 5 pages paper, talking about two different cultural events. APA format and font 12 Time New Roman, not including the reference page. The reference page must be web-based with minimum of 2 different references.

This assignment focuses on information as an asset and logical security techniques for a hypothetical law firm. The goal of this deliverable is to secure an information security policy, suggesting the fundamental guidelines should an untoward event occur. It can be seen that information assets security management can be reduced down to three (3) basic principles: integrity, confidentiality, and availability. Structure a policy around and within computers and associated equipment, as well as the people using it. Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Submission Requirements

  • Infrastructure Document (MS Word)
  • Security Project Plan (MS Project)

Section 1

Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:

  1. Create a cyber-security policy describing the principle, the objective, and policy statement for the law firm’s company network.
  2. Describe the roles and responsibilities by groups (e.g., position director of network security, the network security manager, network security engineers, IT area), defining roles and responsibilities.
  3. Suggest the cyber-security policy statement, an explanation of the policy statement, and the reasons why the policy statement may be controversial.
  4. Determine the security testing methodology you would use to facilitate the assessment of technical controls.

Section 2

  1. Use Microsoft Project, or an open source alternative such as OpenProj, to create a security project plan for the law firm. The project plan should include:
    1. Tasks, subtasks, resources, and predecessors.
    2. An outline of the planning, analysis, design, and implementation phases.
    3. The use of cyber-security in the information systems development life cycle.

How should the medical director at Happy Valley try to convince patients now being referred to the dialysis unit thirty minutes to the south to switch their care to Happy Valley Hospital?

Program Development Case Study

Happy Valley Hospital is a community-based facility with 288 acute care beds, a twelve suite family-oriented birthing center, a forty four bed long-term care inpatient facility, and a fourteen bed inpatient rehabilitation unit. Happy Valley has a major competitor, GH, which has two hundred beds, a small cancer center, and a kidney dialysis unit.

Happy Valley’s director of internal medicine, along with the director of nursing for that department, are considering establishing a new hemodialysis service. GH has a small hemodialysis unit, but they do not have enough beds to properly accommodate the needs of this community.

The Happy Valley medical director has surveyed the six nephrologists with staff privileges at the hospital and has determined that all six agree that there is a need for more hemodialysis beds in the community. Moreover, these nephrologists all have staff privileges at both Happy Valley and GH and would prefer that the new beds be added to the GH unit. GH, however, has no plans to expand their unit for at least the next five years, and presently, new patients are being referred to a dialysis unit in another community thirty minutes south of Happy Valley Hospital. Those patients as well as their families find this alternative site and location to be unacceptable.

Based on your understanding of the above case, express your views on the following:

  • How should the medical director at Happy Valley try to convince patients now being referred to the dialysis unit thirty minutes to the south to switch their care to Happy Valley Hospital?
  • What steps should the Happy Valley medical director take to ensure that patients will get the proper care and facilities at the Happy Valley Hospital hemodialysis unit, when it is established?
  • Is the approach of GH for not having any expansion plans for the next five years for their unit justified, keeping in mind the interest of the community? Why or why not?

How do these stereotypes contribute to the poor being held responsible for their health status?

Determinants of Health

Although inequalities in income and education underlie many health disparities, the poor are sometimes held responsible for their health status. For instance, Dr. Ichiro Kawachi, a Harvard University professor and social epidemiologist, reports that the ability to avoid negative health behaviors like smoking and eating unhealthy foods depends on access to “income, education, and the social determinants of health.” On the basis of your knowledge of the health of the poor, answer the following questions:

  • Should the poor be held responsible for their health disparities? Why or why not?
  • What are some common stereotypes of the poor? How do these stereotypes contribute to the poor being held responsible for their health status?
  • What conditions in your community promote or hinder healthy choices?
  • In addition to the above, consider the input that research on women has lagged behind research on men. Many health treatments that address health risks for women are based on research conducted on men. With reference to your understanding of the healthcare system, mention the factors that determine whether the health treatments based on research on men will be successful with women.
