Assignment 2: Case Study: Michael Dell—The Man Behind Dell Presentation (Change Management)

Michael Dell began building and selling computers from his dorm room at age 19. He dropped out of the University of Texas when his sales hit $60 million and has never looked back. Dell is said to be the fifteenth richest man in America, and the youngest CEO to make the Fortune 500. Intensely private and notoriously shy, Dell is hailed as a corporate wonder-kid. He climbed to the top by exploiting tax loopholes, outsourcing the competition, and inventing a term called “leveraged recapitalization.”

First, review the following case study:

Then, address the following tasks:

• Analyze Dell’s philosophy as it relates to the role of change in organizational success.
• Determine how Dell’s philosophy would be perceived in a low performing culture.
• Identify which performing culture best suits your philosophy regarding change management and provide your rationale.
• Consider the way Dell started his company; determine what market conditions made the business possible.
• Discuss Dell’s approach to building his brand.

Develop a 4–6-slide presentation in PowerPoint format, utilizing at least two scholarly sources (in addition to your textbook) to complete your research, ensuring you cite references within the text and at the end in a reference list. Apply APA standards to the citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.ppt.

Make sure you write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship through accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Exercise: Hexachlorobenzene (C6Cl6) is a highly toxic waste product of pesticide manufacturing. It is resistant to biodegradation. Sediments at the bottom of a reservoir in the Upper Mississippi River catchment have been found to contain high C6Cl6 concentrations. The sedimentation rate is largely unknown, but an effective diffusion coefficient had been determined for C6Cl6 from core samples of the reservoir sediments for hexachlorobenzene and these sediments: D=1.2∙10‐9 m2∙s‐1. When did the spill occur? (Do a least square fit of the Gaussian distribution to the measured concentrations The attempt at a solution I am looking for a way to calculate the time difference for when the concentration was 0.1 and when it was at it’s maximum level at 2.5 g/m³, like: how long did it take the C6Cl6 to diffuse to reach a level of 2.5.

Option #2: Internships, Volunteering, and Certifications for Healthcare Administration and Management

Assignment 2: Interpreting a Platonic Dialogue This discussion assignment is designed to help you understand how to read and interpret a philosophical text. Read the assigned readings from the textbook and the online lectures on Socrates and Plato as background before completing the assignment. Please complete the steps below and respond to all parts of the discussion by Saturday, December 19, 2015. Read pages 36–46 from Plato’s Phaedo (Online Library resource).  Present a 2–3-page interpretation of one of these passages in your own words. You are encouraged to cite the original text, the online lectures, and the course textbook as support for your interpretation. Remember to cite your sources (including the passage you are interpreting) in correct APA citation. Successful public policies often hinge upon the ability of talented leaders to develop, promote, and execute those public policies.  In a two- to three page paper (not including the title and reference pages), discuss which leadership traits you feel are the most important in the creation of sound public policies.  Some questions to consider are: does a leader’s educational background matter significantly in providing leadership in the policy making process?  Do leaders need to have a military background in order to execute successful policies involving the armed forces?  Is it necessary for strong leaders in the policy making arena to have traveled widely and to have had significant foreign policy experience?

In addition, you may wish to illustrate your points by identifying specific past or current leaders (e.g., Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan) in public policy who exemplify the traits you feel are the most important in public policy leadership.  Be sure to justify your selections by connecting the leaders you select to the leadership traits you deemed most important.

Your paper must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide and should cite at least one scholarly source in addition to the textbook..
