Assignment 1: Stolen Credit Card

Lori received a credit card in the mail from a company that had taken her name and address from a white pages directory without her knowledge. Upset about the unauthorized use of her name, Lori planned to contact the company to lodge a complaint. Before she could do that, her roommate stole the card and charged thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise to it without Lori’s knowledge.

The card issuer claimed that Lori was fully responsible for the purchases, while Lori claimed that she should have no liability whatsoever for the purchases.

Research government agencies that provide consumer credit protection or that regulate credit card companies, using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet. Based on the facts of the case and research, respond to the following questions:

• If the card issuer sues Lori, who might the court rule in favor of and why?
• Does the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) offer any protection to Lori?
• What ethical issues are raised by the card issuer’s conduct?

Analyzing an Historical Debate

 

For this assignment, you will analyze an historical issue from the first half of U.S. History (pre-1877). You will need to compare at least two opposing perspectives on that issue.

Part I. Introduction

1.     Describe in general the issue that is debated:

For example, you may analyze the importance of this issue important to the culture, economics, political system, or social structure at the time.

The Research Paper will be a comprehensive research review of the significant principles of management communications used to successfully achieve organizational objectives. For this assignment of a minimum of eight pages, you need to integrate material from the readings, multimedia, and class discussion boards, and also reflect on professional experience where possible. It is mandatory to include research from the classroom text as well as from six scholarly sources to support your views. Consider the validity of your resources carefully before using them in academic papers. Use at least one professional example to address the topics below.

Write a 700- to 1,050-word analysis of your graduate-level writing skills. Include the following:

• A summary of the feedback that you received on your Week One, Week Two, and Week Four Individual Assignments.
• An analysis of your individual strengths and weaknesses in writing.
• A detailed plan for refining areas for improvement in future assignments.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
