Skills, experience, and knowledge gained through the completion of prerequisite courses will be used throughout each deliverable. The project contents to be addressed are as follows:

Project Deliverable 4: Infrastructure and Security

Due Week 7 and worth 90 points

Project Deliverable 4 is a two-part deliverable using MS Word and MS Visio, or their open source equivalents. You are the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of a law office that occupies four (4) floors of a high-rise building in downtown Washington, D.C. There are approximately 50 PCs on the first floor, 150 PCs on the second floor, and 40 PCs on both the third and fourth floors. The servers for each department reside on their respective floors. The director of the accounting department has expressed concerns about the security of his files. For this assignment, you will explain the key functions of a cyber-security policy catalog. Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Submission Requirements

  • Document (MS Word)
  • Microsoft Visio Plan (MS Visio)

Section 1

Write a three to four (3-4) page deliverable in which you:

  1. Explain the major cyber governance issues in an organization and, because of those issues, examine how organizations develop communication protocols.
  2. Describe the security issues found on a network, and arrange them from highest to lowest, mapping out security loopholes to justify your answer.
  3. Differentiate between intellectual property theft and cyber espionage. Determine how you, as the CSO of an organization, would deal with both cases and what standard operating procedures you would follow.

Section 2

4.  Using Microsoft Visio, or an open source alternative such as Dia, illustrate the flow of data for both input and output information in an infrastructure. The diagram must map any issues in terms of a cyber-infrastructure.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Discuss the threats of modern technology in the workplace.
  • Discuss how policies play an important role in techniques adopted for cybersecurity.
  • Discuss the various issues related to cyber governance, cyber users, cyber management, and cyber infrastructure.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in information assurance.
  • Write clearly and concisely about information assurance topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.

Identify the narrative you wish to construct with the data. For example, pulling from World Bank data you could compare life expectancy rates for two nations in order to make a claim.

Design Effective Graphics, Tables & Other Visuals

The document you produce should be roughly 2-3 pages long, including visuals. Please use a report style, which means single spacing and the use of headings and a strong forecasting statement.

This document will have three parts:

1. Identify a sample data set and a narrative you wish to construct with that data. Below are some great sites with voluminous data; you may also bring in your own data set if you wish. The important next steps after identifying a small, manageable set of data to work with will be the following. No need to create the visual just yet; instead, simply write our your responses to these bullet points:

  • · Identify the narrative you wish to construct with the data. For example, pulling from World Bank data you could compare life expectancy rates for two nations in order to make a claim. Or, pulling from Acclaimed Music, you could show the rise and fall of gangsta rap.

· Describe your audience, purpose, and context.

  • · Select and describe the visual you will create and explain why the visual approach you’re taking is the best for your chosen rhetorical situation.

Sample data sets:

2.  Make a visual that fulfills the requirements of the rhetorical situation you identified in the first part.

3. Detail your plan for testing the effectiveness of your visual. Include the metrics you will use, the methods you will use to determine if your visual meets those metrics, and the actual interview questions or other instrument(s) you will use for gathering your data.

Explain why the media elements contained in your Final Project deliver the message you intended to communicate.

Final Project: Using Visuals to Communicate a Message

Visual media can have a significant impact on how effectively a message is communicated. Appropriate and strategic visuals can inspire the audience, lend clarity to a message, and, in general, say things that words alone cannot.

Throughout this course, you decided on a message to communicate, determined the most effective platform or medium for that message, and selected the most appropriate visuals to support the message. For the Final Project, incorporate a minimum of three different types of visual design, such as typography, graphics, and images to deliver your intended message. Note that if you did not create the visual, you must include a reference for the visual(s) contained in the project.

For this project, use the concepts you’ve learned in this course to effectively apply visuals to a business-related message. Below, you will find just a few examples of how visuals can be utilized to communicate a message in the business setting. Feel free to use any of the examples listed below, or if you choose to select examples not included on the list, be sure to request instructor approval prior to completing the Final Project.

Examples of Business Communication How Each Example Might Look for Your Assignment
Presentation on department achievements PowerPoint slides with visuals such as video clips, images, and charts and associated speech in the Speaker’s Notes section at the bottom..
Print advertisement for your own business Word document or PDF version of an advertisement, complete with appropriate image(s), embedded (or links to) video clips, composition, typography, and company logo and website.
Training materials on your job responsibilities Word document or PDF version of job instructions using typography, composition, and relevant images and video to promote clarity.
Company website Word document, PowerPoint, or PDF mock-up that illustrates what you would want your website to look like. Complete with appropriate images, effective composition and color usage, company logo, video clips, and shapes representing where the buttons would be.

Your Final Project must contain aspects of each element discussed in the course as it applies to your example communication piece. It must use appropriate typefaces, deliver a clear message, and have clear brand identity. It must also use an appropriate composition of graphics, photos, video, or other visual media. In addition to the text, your paper must contain a minimum of five scholarly sources, two of which must be from the Ashford University Library.

In your five- to seven-page paper (not including the title and reference pages or the three visual media examples), be sure to address the following:

  • Discuss the rationale behind choosing each of the three media elements and support your discussion with concepts from the course material.
  • Explain why the media elements contained in your Final Project deliver the message you intended to communicate.
  • Describe the intent of the message.
  • Apply a minimum of five concepts from the course material to support your choice of media elements. For example you may use concepts such as visual literacy, perception, visual marketing, storytelling, design, branding, social media, communication theories, or any of the other concepts presented during the course. Be sure to discuss the relationship of the concepts to the media elements that you have chosen.

What can one nurse do to make a difference?

What Can Nurses Do?

Many people, most of them in tropical countries of the Third World, die of preventable, curable diseases. . . . Malaria, tuberculosis, acute lower-respiratory infections—in 1998, these claimed 6.1 million lives. People died because the drugs to treat those illnesses are nonexistent or are no longer effective. They died because it doesn’t pay to keep them alive.

–Ken Silverstein, Millions for Viagra. Pennies for Diseases of the Poor, The Nation, July 19, 1999

Unfortunately, since 1998, little has changed. For many individuals living in impoverished underdeveloped countries, even basic medical care is difficult to obtain. Although international agencies sponsor outreach programs and corporations, and although nonprofit organizations donate goods and services, the level of health care remains far below what is necessary to meet the needs of struggling populations. Polluted water supplies, unsanitary conditions, and poor nutrition only exacerbate the poor health prevalent in these environments. Nurses working in developed nations have many opportunities/advantages that typically are not available to those in underdeveloped countries. What can nurses do to support their international colleagues and advocate for the poor and underserved of the world?

In this Discussion, you will consider the challenges of providing health care for the world’s neediest citizens, as well as how nurses can advocate for these citizens.

To prepare:

  • Consider the challenges of providing health care in underdeveloped countries.
  • Conduct research in the Walden Library and other reliable resources to determine strategies being used to address these challenges.
  • Using this week’s Learning Resources, note the factors that impact the ability of individuals in underdeveloped nations to obtain adequate health care.
  • Consider strategies nurses can use to advocate for health care at the global level. What can one nurse do to make a difference?

Post by Day 3 a description of at least two challenges related to providing adequate health care in underdeveloped countries. Then, describe two strategies you might use to address those challenges, and explain why. Finally, describe one strategy nurses might use in advocating for health care at the global level, and explain why this would be an effective strategy.
