How were the principles of persuasion studied?

Assignment 2: LASA 1 Principles of Persuasion

An environmental organization would like to film a pro-recycling public service announcement and have brought you on as a consultant to help them better understand the principles of persuasion and how they should be applied in this PSA. As part of your presentation to the organization you will need to educate them on the principles of persuasion (using what has been learned through previous research) that will need to be applied to their PSA.

By Wednesday, February 10, 2016 you should create a PowerPoint presentation.

In the first 4 to 6 slides of your presentation you will need to:

    • Summarize at least two previous research studies on persuasion.

    • How were the principles of persuasion studied?

    • Was the research valid? Why or why not?

  • What was learned through these studies that can be applied to the creation of the above PSA?

In your next 6 to 10 slides you will incorporate all you have learned about the art of persuasion to create your own PSA PowerPoint presentation to present to this organization that they will use to guide the filming of their video.

In this presentation you will need to:

    • Present a creative argument that will persuade the viewers of the need to recycle, which the video will be based on.

    • Use at least two primary principles of persuasion within this presentation.

  • In the final slide outline which two or more principles were used and why they were a good fit for this PSA.

Your total presentation should be a minimum of 10 to 16 slides (not including your title and reference slides). For your project you will need to be creative in the use of your graphics and fonts in addition to discussing and applying the principles of persuasion.

Explain the development of American courts and illustrate the concept of the dual-court system.

Due Week 8 and worth 200 points

In preparation for this assignment, please view the Jurisville scenarios and resulting simulations from Weeks 5 through 7 in Unit 2: Courts.

In the scenarios and resulting simulations, Tim Smith, senior criminal lawyer, discusses select cases and asks a paralegal to indicate which courts would have exclusive jurisdiction of the cases in question. He also discusses various pretrial procedures and illustrates them with select cases. Finally, Tim Smith introduces the case of Roland Gary, who served twenty-three (23) years in prison for a crime that he did not commit. The case brought to light several key issues, along with the manner in which they were resolved.

Use the Internet to research three real-life cases from the past five (5) years that fit the following criteria:

  • Cases that depict the unique processes related to different courts
  • The defendant accepted a plea bargain as an alternative to trial
  • The defendant was wrongly accused and later vindicated
  • AM PAYING $9.00

Write a three to four (2-3) page paper in which you:

  1. Discuss one (1) real-life criminal case, taken from current events, and identify the court that took jurisdiction. Explain why the court that took the case was the appropriate one for the particular circumstances.
  2. Discuss the real-life case that you have selected, in which the defendant accepted a plea bargain as an alternative to trial. Give your opinion on whether or not justice was served in the case in question. Provide a rationale for the response.
  3. Discuss the real-life case that you selected, in which, like Roland Gary, the defendant was wrongly accused and later vindicated. Explore one (1) key aspect of the case and examine its relation to the case at large. Describe the resolution to the selected case.
  4. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Summarize the current ethical issues faced by criminal justice professionals and future of the criminal justice system.
  • Explain the development of American courts and illustrate the concept of the dual-court system.
  • Distinguish between the various courtroom participants, and describe the stages in a criminal trial.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in criminal justice.

Now compare and contrast this model with modern macroeconometric models (e.g., the Klein model, the DRI model, etc.). Include in your essay the structure of models, the estimation of models, the dynamics of models, and forecasting of models. Objective: Using the formal terms of art and design (elements, principles, composition, content) write a brief review about an artwork you choose -similar to the way an art critic would write for publication.  Choose the artwork from an article on a reliable internet source – Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, New York Times, Huffington Post, Denver Art Museum, possibly use Google for art related articles past or present, or it may be your choice for a reliable source.

The article you choose may cite an artwork or artifact from current/contemporary topic or refer to an ancient discovery.

Procedure: Use the following steps as an aid to writing a paper about the art you choose.  Three paragraphs; an introduction, body, and ending may comprise the paper’s form.

Step 1:  Statements that answer: Source? Where is the artwork located? Who made the work?  What type of art is it?  When was it made?  Other statements you think are necessary to introduce the art, artist, venue, location.

Step 2:  Describe what you see in the artwork:  The objects or images, animals, figures, buildings, etc., and the subject  – such as landscape, figure, portrait, sculptural, etc.  This gives the overall information about the work.

Step 3:  Describe the Formal Elements, Principles and other aspects of the artwork’s Composition.  Reference the Starter Kit in the beginning of the text and the study sheet, you will find helpful information here.  Describe the kinds of elements and/or principles, how they are used to create composition, effects, and communication. Include other statements that describe the form’s appearance and how this may connect to the expression or meaning.
